Du'a the Weapon of the Believer

Postby Kaltham » Thu Jun 22, 2006 12:27 am

Salaamu Aleeykum

As agreed (i appologize for being so late) we will be starting this Saturday June 24th at 5am the lecture series of Du'a the Weapon of the Believer by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi insha Allah.

I know the time is quite early, but insha Allah we will all be motivated by the fact that the Prophet Muhammad salla Allahu alayhi wassalaam prayed so that we'll have baraka (blessings) in the time after fajr.

Soon you'll receive an email containing the flyer and we should also soon post the notes.

You might also want to take your own notes so that you are benefiting more from the lectures. We should be taking an exam shortly after we complete the class over the material so pay good attention insha Allah.

Since the real test is on the Day of Judgment, we should all be practicing what we learn, ASAP insha Allah. This class is extremely beneficial.

May Allah make our intentions pure for his sake and increase our iman with the knowledge we seek.

Fii Amaani'Laah

P.S. You might experience a continuous EmanRush kinda feeling with the material so prepare well for it insha Allah.

Wa `alaykumussalaam wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakatuhu

Alhamdulillaah, the e-mail with the flier has been sent out, and both the notes and the flier are available for download from the main Columbus Dawah website:

Sr. Kaltham, can you post links to each individual file for this class from the Audio Islam site? This will help people to find and download the files ahead of time, in shaa Allaah, if they want to prepare better for the class.

It would be better if you could link to the individual files directly - though it will take you some more time up front, it will save others a lot of time, especially because that category has a large number of files in it already...

If i try to click on any of the lectures it automatically plays it. So I can really open it in a new page to copy its link. Am i doing it the right way?

There are two links for each page - one to stream and listen to it now (that is the link from the title), and the second one is a download link (the one that says "Download" on the right side).

You can always right-click on a link, and choose the option "Copy Shortcut". Then, you can paste the link to the file anywhere you like. Do this with the "Download" links.

alhamdulillah.

Abu Hurayrah, do you think it would be a problem if unwanted people butt in and disrupt our session?

I think that somewhat distracts us a little bit.

Do you think it's something we have to do something about or should we just take them as they come?

I assume you're referring to online sessions here.

I think it was disruptive, but not terribly so. I think I also need to learn how to handle the situation better - controlling the questions asked and whatnot. That one question we had...bothered me a lot (I don't know if anyone else picked up on it, but I was really upset by it...)

We (and, in this case, I) need to learn to keep the session focused. If people find the comments distracting, then they don't have to follow along. I don't think it's an obligation for people to follow the comments - focus on the lecture, and then we can ask questions later.

If it ends up hindering our studies, then we may lock the room and give out the password via the list & website. I don't like this approach, but at least it's not really blocking, in a pure sense. However, it does prevent people from coming in. I know some people just came in and stayed for the duration of the lecture. I would feel very guilty if these people were left out in the future...

Yes, I think I picked up on it, and I kept thinking about it even after the session ended. (if i have the one question that you meant) However it's good that we all know enough not to jump in and offer our answers, and just let you (the moderator) handle it.

OK then, I think that's good insyaallah.

Doing Newsletter

Postby UmmHamzah » Mon Jun 26, 2006 3:24 pm

So, Abu Hurayrah, do you think we should make a newsletter for this class as well? If we are going to, it would be a good idea to give the attendees a heads up so they can prepare for what they might want to to write about insyaallah. You might want to mention it in the next session.

I can assemble it insyaallah, but we need writers.
